Getting the Hang of Things

Hey everyone!

So a lot happened this week and I don't have much time, so let's get started!

Last Monday we went looking for less active members whose addresses we have. We met one lady whose daughter is a member but has moved. She was closed off at first, but we chatted with her and expressed concern for her life and she started to warm up to us. They also live right across from our house, so we've seen her a couple times and she's friendly and even asked if we still have English class! So that's a work in progress...

Tuesday we met with Darrin. We shared the Plan of Salvation using the Family Proclamation! It did not go as well as we hoped. We should have prepared better what we were going to say with it, but he just feels like God has led him to us and it is his time to accept it, so he accepted a baptismal date for August anyway! He's a dad with a few kids. We're hoping to teach his family even though it seems like his wife already has firm beliefs. So prayers that she'll be touched by the message of eternal families would be great.

Wednesday I taught kid's class for English class, which went surprisingly well. We talked about the stripling warriors.
(Note from Missionary Mom Des: When we were talking with Elder Ogden about this experience, he said that he asked the kids to tell him something that their parents had taught them. The answers ranged from things like "math" to "how to brush my teeth". When they were done, Elder Ogden told them that his mom taught him that he can do hard things and then he taught them how to say, "I can do hard things" in English. Let me just grab a box of tissues for a moment...)

Thursday we had a zone council and talked about the importance of never suppressing a righteous thought, and having regular 15-minute visits with members to strengthen them, practice teaching them, help with their missionary work, and then bounce.
That night we taught a girl who is living with a member couple. We had met with them before and they said they thought she might have interest, so we planned out how we could have an opportunity to meet her in a natural, non-threatening way. It worked!

Well, that's all the time I have, but I love you all, have a great week!

This video is Elder Ogden and his companion, Elder Parola, sharing their amazing talents with the other missionaries in their zone.  Enjoy!
