大家好!
(da4jia1 hao3-Hello big family)
Hopefully you all had a great new year, mine didn't feel any different but that's alright. haha.
This week was a good one, although there's not much new stuff to say.
Last week we celebrated Christmas by going to the chapel, opening presents, and watching Ephraim's Rescue with Seth and Mikaela, the ward mission leader and his wife.
This week I went on splits to JiAn with Elder Halverson, who's only one transfer past training, so we are both pretty young in our missions. He's great though, and it was a lot of fun. I ended up contacting this guy on the street, and he set up for Saturday with the JiAn elders, so that was a first time for me that I set someone up after leading the contact!
That night we had to ride out to the college that's about 45 minutes away, but on the way back Elder Halverson's tire popped, so we had to walk home for an hour and a half since we were in the middle of nowhere without bike shops, so that was fun, haha.
We taught this guy who self contacted in JiAn wanting a BoM, and I invited him to baptism and he accepted! He's way sweet, he loves the Book of Mormon, and is really excited to keep learning!
Today we have been to a kaorou, or Taiwanese Barbecue, and they killed a shanzhu, or mountain boar, to cook, which was really good, and they had sweet potatoes and stuff so it was a fun time.
After that we went and played some board games and got wintermelon tea (not really tea), and talked to a drunk guy on the train home, it was sweet!
My spiritual thought this week is from 2Nephi 5:16, and this really stood out to me this week because Nephi says that he built his temple the best he could, and he didn't have the materials that were available in Jerusalem, but to the Lord, it was enough, and I love how simple and powerful that message is, that no matter what our abilities, if we give them all to Him, he can "feed 5000 with our loaves and fishes"!
Love you guys!
Elder Ogden
